II-VI/III-V integration for next generation multi-junction solar cells

Various II-VI/III-V multi-junction solar cell designs based on substrates with various lattice constants are evaluated. Designs using only binaries or ternary alloys are presented. The highest achievable efficiencies for three junction cells are found to be on non-traditional lattice constants. The designs are evaluated under various spectral conditions including measured, simulated, and locational marginal price-weighted spectrum data. Different results are achieved when using a measured spectrum compared to the results of a standard AM1.5 spectrum.
