Polymer supported porous Pd nanocatalyst

We report results of two kinds of ethanol oxidation reactions carried out with porous polymer palladium catalyst. Two distinctly different reaction conditions were used: (i) isothermal oxidation of ethanol in closed glass container at 83°C and (ii) aerial oxidation of ethanol at room temperature. The results from this study obtain through the use of scanning electron microscopy, powder x-ray diffraction and surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy shows that the ethanol oxidation reaction occurs over the porous polymer palladium catalyst assembly resulting in modification of surface and subsurface alteration in microstructure and chemical co-ordination of Pd.
