Innovative gas mixtures for Resistive Plate Chambers operated in avalanche mode

The possibility of using gas mixtures containing Helium, to overcome some of the problems encountered with standard gas mixtures employed up to now for Resistive Plate Chambers, is studied here. New and interesting experimental results are reported, opening a possible original path of investigation in this field.
