Analysis, detection and estimation of soft failures for strapdown inertial navigation system

This paper studies some typical soft failures patterns in strapdown inertial navigation system (SINS). The soft failure models and their effect on system performance are presented. Also, a detection and estimation method is proposed based on the parity equation and weighted recursive least square estimation algorithm. The proposed method is illustrated by a application example of re-entry spacecraft.
