Optimal parameters for single loop /spl Delta//spl Sigma/ modulators

A systematic study of 2/sup nd/ to 4/sup th/ order single loop /spl Delta//spl Sigma/ modulators, with single and multi bit quantizers, is presented. Based on extensive behavioural simulations, the optimal loop coefficients and the corresponding obtainable performances are found and listed in tables. The performance degradation compared with an ideal n/sup th/-order modulator is quantified and explained in the light of a linear model.
