A two phases traffic aware adaptive resource allocation scheme for dense femtocell systems

In this paper, we consider a two-phase traffic-aware adaptive resource allocation (T-ARA) scheme to mitigate inter-femtocell interference in dense-deployed femtocell environments for LTE system. The proposed scheme consists of the long period allocation (LPA) strategy and the short period allocation (SPA) strategy. The quasi orthogonal bandwidth is assigned to femtocell in the LPA strategy to suppress the strong interference. Aiming to balance the traffic load, the SPA strategy is adopted to flexibly coordinate the frequency resource allocation among adjacent femtocells. The optimization problem is to minimize the power consumption while users' qualities of service (QoS) requirements are satisfied. Simulation results prove that the T-ARA scheme can well react to the traffic load level of the femtocell networks, effectively reduce the outage ratio and the power consumption.
