Abstract:

Reverberation Chambers are often made of commercialised shielding rooms with dimensions in the meter range. On one hand this is very expensive; on the other hand the maximum amplitude of the E-field decreases with volume for a given input power. In the lower GHz-range small chambers with volumes below 1 m3 provide much higher field strengths at low input power. If small devices need to be tested at high field strength in the GHz-range, the use of commonly known mode tuners is not efficient due to loss of the usable volume. Therefore in order to replace the time and volume consuming tuner process, the paper shows the impact of frequency modulated signals on the field conditions for susceptibility testing in a small reverberation chamber with a volume of 0,38 m3.
