Experimental investigation of the water impulse force and moment on the disk of a butterfly check valve

Butterfly check valves are widely used in water supply pipel ine systems. Proper desi gn of new valves requires accurate determinati on of the water impulse force and moment on the disk for transient flow conditions. The impulse morrents were measured using pressure measurement and strain gauge rreasurerrents. Carrel ati on was devel oped rei ating the i rrpulse morrent to the veloci ty and angle that were used to desi gn a new type of valves.
