Exploring technology use behavior — A case study of adopting e-readers into higher education classroom

The widespread use of e-readers provides a useful tool to students. This has brought us to explore the essential factors that affect student's willing of using new technology in the higher educational classroom. To understand the relationship between reading habits and e-reader functions, we applied grounded theory to analyze data. Results suggest that users' expectations and operation are affected by their previous experiences of using technology and their reading habits. Whether the actual features of the product satisfy the user's expectation or not, there are five different reactions: rejection, complaint, satisfaction, surprise and useless. This study analyzes students' reactions to different features of new technology and provides teachers and manufacturers references for applying new technology into learning environment.
