Data rectification methods for the flow rate measurement in iron& steel plants' steam networks

The steam in iron& steel plants is an important secondary energy. Accurate measurement of steam flow rate is of great significance for the rational use of steam and improving energy efficiency. However, due to the complex nature of steam and the low precision of instruments, the reliability of the measured data is low. That makes negative impact to the production scheduling. In the paper, three data rectification methods are proposed for the real-time flow rate measurements. For the case that the measurement system is configured with sufficient instrument for the whole steam network, data rectification and reconciliation can be implemented by relationships of the flow rates among the fixed nodes. As for the situation that the variables associated with the flow rates of the steam at some nodes could be found and derived, despite of less measurement points in the system, the flow rate data still can be reconstructed. The comparison of the detected data and the reconstructed data can be applied to detect anomalies. When it is impossible to find the variables associated with the flow rates of some nodes, we can discover the abnormal by comparing the statistical properties of the tested data with normal ones. Rectification for steam network flow rate measurement data can improve the reliability of measurement data.
