TiO2 compact layer with photonic crystals: Application to back-illuminated dye-sensitized solar cells

The TiO
₂
photonic crystal compact layer (TiO
₂
PhC CL) has been successfully prepared. The TiO
₂
PhC CL combined conventional compact layer and new photonic crystal as inverse opal, and it could both suppress electron recombination and increase light path at specific wavelength. The UV-visible spectra showed that the TiO
₂
PhC CL indeed reflect more visible light and these wavelength correspond to N719 dye's specific absorption spectra. This CL would be applied to a back-illuminated dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC).
