Study on synthesis kinetics of LiNi0.95Al0.05O2 prepared by solid phase method

Using LiOH, NiO
₂
and Al
₂
O
₃
as raw materials, the synthesis reaction of LiNi
_0.95
Al
_0.05
O
₂
was found occurring between 410°C to 475°C through analyzing the synthetic process by TG-DTA technique. The kinetic parameters of reaction were calculated by Starink model and Kissinger model, they are activation energy 207.63 kJ-mo
^-1
, reaction order 1.61, reaction rate constant 0.74, and then the rate equation of reaction was given. XRD results indicate that the crystal structure of LiNi
_0.95
Al
_0.05
O
₂
belongs to hexagonal system and R3̅m space group, so LiNi
_{0. 95}
A1
_0.05
O
₂
is suitable to be used as cathode materials for Li-ion batteries.
