Actively responding to climate change and develop low-carbon agriculture

The climate change is both environment and development issue which is challenging the sustainable development of our human society. Under the background that the international community is actively responding to the climate change and converting to the low-carbon economy with characteristics of low energy consumption, low emission and low pollution, as a fast-developing country, China must transform the style of economic growth to the low-carbon and sustainable economy to solve contradictions of climate change and economic development. The present exploration of low-carbon economy focuses mainly on solving environmental problems which are resulted from high emission and high energy consumption in the course of urbanization and industrialization, while the urgencies of developing low-carbon agriculture are ignored. This paper discusses the issues about developing low-carbon agriculture, and puts forward new approaches to promote new modern agriculture with high-carbon economy low-carbon economy transformation, and realizes the sustainable development of agriculture.
