Using an artificial neural network to define the planning target volume in radiotherapy

A neural network is designed and tested for prediction of the planning target volume in radiotherapy from the shape of the detected tumor. The proposed neural network is able to generalize a doctor's knowledge and to predict the planning target volume from a 3-dimensional image of the detected tumor. The first results are presented.
