Abstract:

Over the past four decades, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Harvard Medical School, Harvard University, Boston-area teaching hospitals, and an assortment of research centers have worked together in a unique collaboration that integrates science, medicine, and engineering to solve problems in human health. This collaboration is the Harvard–MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology (HST), which first began in 1970 when the MIT and Harvard Medical School agreed to develop a joint program in medical science.
