Application of databases for compatibility of electrical installation design

Information systems and databases have significantly improved the design process of electrical systems. In recent years, several Internet-based information systems have become accessible directly from design software. Unfortunately integration of closed systems requires extra expenses from design companies. This paper gives a state of the art overview of information systems and databases used for design.
