Add Drop Filter for ITU-T G.694.2 CWDM systems

In this paper two-dimensional Photonic Crystal Ring Resonator (2D PCRR) based Add Drop Filter (ADF) is proposed. It's theoretical and numerical analysis is carried out. Using 2D Finite Difference Time Domain (2D FDTD) method, coupling and dropping efficiencies of ADF is investigated. The Photonic Bandgap (PBG) of the designed structure is calculated by Plane Wave Expansion (PWE) method. Quality factor of 135.54, close to 100 percent of coupling and dropping efficiencies are observed for the proposed filter at 1491 nm through simulation. The effect of number of rings in the ring resonator is also accounted and considered for determining these parameters.
