Preparation of high-value chemicals from selective fast pyrolysis of bamboo directionally catalyzed by phosphoric acid

Bamboo is an abundant plant as the feedstock of biomass energy in many countries all over the world. It has an extremely rapid growing rate, and it can be considered as a sustainable raw material wood resource. In this study, high-value chemicals such as furfural, levoglucosenone, 2,3-dihydro benzofuran and levoglucosan, prepared from bamboo by directionally selective fast pyrolysis of phosphoric acid catalyst were investigated by curie-point pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectroscopy (CP-GC-MS). to reduce the content of the phenolic compounds and enhance the content of sugar and furan compounds. It was resulted from enhancing the depolymerization of cellulose and promoting the formation of solid char from lignin and preventing the formation of the phenolic compounds. The content of the major sugar compounds reached to 50% along with the use of catalyst. The content of the major furan compounds enhanced, mostly the increase of fufural.
