Radiation hardness test of Pr:LuAG and BSO scintillators

We measured radiation hardness of two kinds of newly developed inorganic scintillators, Pr:LuAG and BSO. The amounts of irradiation for our test were γ-rays up to 100 Gy and neutrons up to 10

neutrons/cm

fluence. These radiation doses are corresponding to SuperKEKB/Belle-II 10 years operation. For γ-rays, both Pr:LuAG and BSO scintillators showed reasonably good radiation hardness, (-11±3)% and (-6±3)%, respectively, for 100 Gy. For neutrons, at 10
¹¹
neutrons/cm
²
, light output degradation was -6% in both scintillators. At 10
¹²
neutrons/cm
²
, BSO is still found to be robust, light output decrease is -8%, while Pr:LuAG shows -36% degradation.
