The effect of transverse tubular sodium channels on action potentials and membrane currents in skeletal muscle

Computer simulations are used to study the effect of transverse tubular sodium channels on sarcolemmal and tubular action potential propagation in skeletal muscle. The results show that only a very small fraction of the tubular sodium channels are likely to open during an action potential.
