The photocatalytic destruction of dyes by perovskite-type CaCoO3

The energy gap of perovskite is usually less than 3.0eV. So it shows good photocatalytic activity in visible light region and used as photocatalysis. In the paper perovskite-type oxide CaCoO
3
is prepared by citric complexometry. The photocatalytic degradation experiments of using the CaCoO
3
to dispose watersoluble dye are carried out. The conditions of photocatalytic degradation such as photocatalytic time, amount of photocatalyst, the illumination intensity, pH value and additional oxidant (H
2
O
2
) on photocatalysis are also studied in the research. The results show that CaCoO
3
has a significant photocatalysis decolorizing effect on the acidity red dye. When the concentration of the catalyst is 4g/L, the reaction time is 180 minutes, PH value is 2, the illumination intensity is 60 watt, the dosage of 10% H
2
O
2
is 50mL/L, the degradation ratio of the acidity red dye can reach 97.2%.
