Quality and clinical engineering

Quality has become and continues to be the buzzword of the 90s. The definition of quality as it relates to Clinical Engineering is the topic of many a discussion. We have heard terms like Quality Assurance (QA), Quality Improvement (QI), Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and Total Quality Management (TQM). The term used usually depends on what the hospi- tal administration feels meets the current health care trend. It is the objective of any Clinical Engineering manager to direct the Department's work flow procedures meeting the requirements of the current health care environment. This presentation will set out methods for continued Clinical Engineering Department success throughout the 1990s and into the next decade.
