Random walk theory applied to noninvasive in vivo optical measurements of human tissue

Expressions for the photon intensity profile and mean transit time are derived from random walk theory. These differ from previously derived quantities, in that scattering angle anisotropy now is explicitly taken into account. Results are used to determine the scattering and absorption cross-sections of tissues.
