Detection of Thiophene and CS2 in Coking Benzene Using GC-FPD

The exact measurement of thiophene and CS
₂
in coking benzene is very difficult. In this paper, a novel and convenient method for measuring compounds containing-sulfur in benzene solution is studied by GC-FPD. The peak area of benzene and its volume is firstly associated, and then standard curves between the peak area of thiophene and CS
₂
and their amounts were respectively made. The injection volumes of thiophene and CS
₂
-benzene solution is corrected by the peak area of benzene and then the concentrations of thiophene and CS
₂
in benzene solution can be exactly calculated. This method is validated by the known concentration thiophene-CS
₂
-benzene solution and the results show that the relative error was less than 4%. So it can be used for the analysis of both thiophene and CS
₂
in coking benzene in once measurement.
