An Enhanced Flexible Color Filter Via Imprint Lithography and Inkjet Deposition Methods

We identify new methods for the roll-to-roll production of flexible color filter arrays (CFA) for electronic displays. Through the use of imprint lithography to define “color wells” we have enabled inkjet deposition as a means to generate CFAs, despite the modest precision attainable with liquid drop placement. In this paper, we outline the imprint lithography process and color well design for template production. The advantage of printing the filter array within a predetermined template is demonstrated, and analysis of their structure and optical properties is presented.
