Modified DTR system for UWB and performance analysis

The traditional transmitted reference (TR) autocorrelation receivers usually use noisy reference signals as the correlation template but the performance is heavily influenced. To avoid the drawbacks, a modified differential transmission reference receiver (MDTR) is proposed in this paper and its performance is also evaluated. The new receiving system generates a reference signal by combining two consecutive symbol waveforms. Implementation approach of this scheme is adding a delay line and a delay unit to the traditional DTR system. By the simulation results and further analysis, we can see that not only the 100% efficiency of the data transmission is ensured, but also the MDTR system improves the quality of the reference signal. What's more, the modified system has 4dB enhancement in contrast with the traditional TR system in the bit error rates. Then the overall performance has been substantially increased.
