Mechanism of photoinduced second-harmonic generation in germanosilicate glass

Here we report a simple model that possibly explains the intensity dependence of the transformation of Ge-doped silicate glass into a frequency doubler, as well as the ties between the refractive index change, and the red and blue luminescence observed in the glass.
