Experimental validation of efficient methods for the prediction of patterning effects in SOA-based optical switches

We experimentally investigate and verify simple and efficient methods for characterizing the patterning effects (PE) of SOA-based optical switches. The onset of PE saturation is well predicted by the theory. An experimental method to capture the maximum PE is developed.
