Influencing factors on the neutral red dye wastewater treatment by chlorine dioxide and activated carbon catalytic oxidation process

The effect of activated carbon dosage, chlorine dioxide dosage, pH value and reaction time on the chlorine dioxide / activated carbon catalytic oxidation process treating neutral red dye wastewater were investigated. The results showed that the decolorization rate and organic matter removal rate of the chlorine dioxide / activated carbon catalytic oxidation process were 96% and 98.4%, respectively. It was much higher than that of the system with only ClO
₂
. It was also found that the optimum effect of chlorine dioxide / activated carbon catalytic oxidation system can be obtained under the conditions of chlorine dioxide dosage 0.05mg/mL, activated carbon dosage of 7.5g, pH value of 7 ~ 9, reaction time 50min and reaction temperature around 20□. Therefore, chlorine dioxide / activated carbon catalytic oxidation process is an effective means of treating dyeing wastewater.
