Microbicidal efficacy evaluation using plasma: International standards and recommended practices

Microbicidal efficacy of plasma processing has been investigated as a possible alternative to conventional sterilization/decontamination methods for heat sensitive materials by a number of researchers from academia and industry. The disparity regarding the approaches to validating microbicidal efficacy makes study comparisons difficult. This review offers guidance on recommended practices for the evaluation of the microbicidal efficacy of plasma or any other sterilizing agent or process based on international industry standards and guidance documents.
