Ultrafast, element-specific, demagnetization dynamics probed using coherent high harmonic beams

High harmonics from a tabletop laser are used to probe ultrafast demagnetization of a compound material (Permalloy) with elemental selectivity. We achieve the highest time resolution, element-specific, measurements to date at 50fs.
