Canadian National Power Quality Survey results

In 1991 the Canadian Electrical Association (CEA) took a proactive approach to power quality problems and initiated a three year "Canadian National Power Quality Survey". This survey is now finished with a total of 550 customer sites having been monitored, each for a one month period. This paper presents a detailed discussion of how data from many different sites were combined into various "average" power quality profiles for different customer groups, such as industrial, commercial, and residential. The purpose of this paper is to report on the findings of the Canadian National Power Quality Survey and to share new information about the average electrical environment at utility customer premises.
