What's up with mash-ups? [Editorial]

Mash-ups. What on earth, I suspect some of you will be thinking, is a mash-up? Well, you'll probably know it when you see it. Or hear it. Or experience it. It means different things in different circumstances - it will mean one thing to a DJ, for example, and something else to a Web designer.
