Applications for high voltage pulse generators

This paper is concerned with the applications, and techniques for use, of solid state high voltage pulse generators. Such generators have been in routine commercial production for many years but advances have produced systems with considerably more output voltage, computer controlled parameters and diagnostics, and high reliability. The pulsers described are all solid state devices, usually employing either avalanche or field effect transistors (FETs), but some of the techniques are equally applicable to other switching devices, particularly those exhibiting low trigger jitter.
