Fabrication and photoelectrochemical properties of nanoporous WO3 film

Nanoporous tungsten oxide (WO
₃
) with pore size of about 80 nm has been fabricated by anodization in a 1 M Na
₂
SO
₄
solution with 0.5 wt% NaF (pH 4.0) at the anodization voltage of 40 V. The photoelectrochemical properties and photocatalytic activity of the nanoporous WO
₃
film are investigated under visible light. The results show that the WO
₃
nanoporous structure has better photoactivity than the plane structure under visible light irradiation and is a potential photocatalyst to decompose contamination in water under visible light.
