A 2.4GHz variable conversion gain mixer with body bias control techniques for low voltage low power applications

A new low voltage, low power and variable conversion gain mixer based on single balanced cell in a 0.18 ¿m CMOS process for 2.4 GHz wireless LAN applications is presented in this paper. The proposed mixer of large tuning gain range (14.5~24.2 dB) is implemented by incorporating the RF body bias control technique, the LO body bias control technique and the RF leakage-less current bleeding technique. The designed mixer achieves measured conversion gain of 14.5 dB and IIP3 of - 11 dBm under consuming power of 2 mW from 0.8 V supply voltage. The chip size including pads is 0.98 mm × 0.95 mm.
