A Batch Dyeing Machine's Controller Based on Embedded System

Traditional controllers for dyeing batch machines, which are mainly implemented on the obsolete 8-bit or 16-bit MCU or PLC platform, have some disadvantages in network communication, input and output ports, human-machine interaction, dyeing-program edition, control functions and so on. This paper proposes a new batch dyeing machine's controller based on the 32-bit embedded platform. It is realized on the ARM7 hardware platform with embedded operating system eCos whose source codes are open and free. The design and implementation of the embedded controller are described in detail after analyzing the function requirements of a typical batch dyeing process. Finally, the migration of the embedded software is done and an experimental controller with powerful functions and high performance is produced.
