Structural analysis of the TPX vacuum vessel for the preliminary design

This paper presents some analysis results of the Tokamak Physics Experiment vacuum vessel for the preliminary design phase. The results obtained are due to dead load, shielding water and atmospheric pressure, and engineering plasma disruption forces. The major vacuum vessel response is due to electromagnetic forces induced on the plasma facing components. Two approaches were initiated for the dynamic analysis: the lumped mass approach and the fluid-structure interaction. However, due to an unexpected cancellation of the project, both dynamic approaches are left unfinished. This paper presents only the static analysis results.
