Coherent combining efficiency assessment for few-mode fibers with higher-order mode content

We study coherent combining of few-mode fibers. Experimental and numerical efficiency assessment reveals how coherent combining can be impaired when transverse mode content in a fiber differs significantly from the single-mode case.
