IPTV over satellite with Adaptive and Variable Coding and Modulation

In this paper, we tried to use satellite link for providing IPTV services. The common satellite link uses fixed-size packets as MPEG-2 TS which has much redundancy. If a satellite communication system support IPTV, it must adopt ACM/VCM(ACM, Adaptive Coding and Modulation, VCM, Variable Coding and Modulation) mode for reducing fixed size packet redundancies. This paper describes the requirements for IPTV service using satellite communication systems.
