Precise following control using optimized friction compensator for HDDs

In this paper, we propose a precise following control technique that is suppressing the effect of pivot friction by using high precision friction model. It can be seen that the proposed method suppresses the gain of the inputted signal and is suppressing the gain of the whole low frequency region. Moreover, the standard deviation ±3σ of position error signal with the proposed method is about 40% less than that with conventional controller.
