Readout electronics and data acquisition system of the MicroBooNE experiment

MicroBooNE is a proposed Liquid Argon Time Projection Chamber (TPC) detector that will observe interactions of neutrinos from the on-axis Booster Neutrino Beam and off-axis NuMI Beam at Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. MicroBooNE detector has 3 readout wire planes and ~10,000 signal channels, all of channels are preamplified, shaped, digitized and pre-processed online before recording on storage for offline analysis of a wide variety of physics programs. We present here an overview of the R&D activities and readout architectural studies of the MicroBooNE experiment: front-end cold electronics, optimized signal shaping circuit, multi-channel signal digitization, FPGA based online data reduction techniques and data acquisition (DAQ) system architecture.
