Mixed potential Green's functions for cylindrical microstrip structures

Conformal microstrip antennas are currently of great interest in both the military and civilian sectors. There are, however, few accurate analytical models and "cut and try" design methods are difficult due to the curvature of the surface. There is clearly a need for an accurate CAD model. One step towards achieving this goal is presented. The Green's functions necessary for a moment method model based on a mixed potential integral equation are derived and evaluated for cylindrical microstrip structures. A discussion of how this formulation is used in practice and preliminary antenna, modeling results are presented. The results can be employed in a moment method model to compute the input impedance, mutual coupling and patterns of conformal microstrip antennas.
