Analysis and performance of a current regulated AC parallel-resonant voltage-source inverter

In this paper an alternative resonant inverter topology is investigated which uses a conventional voltage-source inverter structure, with parallel-resonant components on the phase-leg outputs to achieve zero-current switching. A major advantage of this approach is reduced device voltage stresses compared with other resonant converter topologies, and reduced dv/dt on the phase leg output compared to a conventional voltage-source inverter. Furthermore, when controlled by a closed-loop discrete-pulse modulation strategy, the inverter can produce smooth sinusoidal output current, and is capable of 4-quadrant operation, with regeneration back into the DC supply.
