Optical Performance Monitoring for intelligent networks

Optical Performance Monitoring is a key enabler for fully reconfigurable and transparent optical networks. In this paper we review the technologies and challenges for monitoring 40 G/100 G networks with an emphasis on multi-impairment monitoring solutions.
