The design of the Telesis Technologies Laboratory DCS 1900 Test Network in San Francisco

Telesis Technologies Laboratory (TTL) has deployed a trial DCS 1900 network in downtown San Francisco. The DCS 1900 system, derived from the European GSM standard and operating in the 1850-1990 MHz frequency band, shares the band with existing fixed microwave users. The trial network was designed in order to test all of the major features of the system in the most economic manner. The minor modifications from DCS 1800 are discussed, and the San Francisco network design is presented.
