Naval Oceanographic Office technology: Focus on change

Evolving technology is allowing the Department of Defense (DoD) to adopt a new way of doing business while doing more with less. The Naval Oceanographic Office is using new technologies to change data collection methodologies from single-purpose platforms to multipurpose platforms (ships, aircraft, satellites, and processors) that can support data collection and processing in the littoral areas. Digital instrumentation makes near-real-time on-site validation of collected data possible and optimizes central-site processing capabilities.
