Influence of Laser Distribution on the Thermal Effect of YVO4-Nd:YVO4 Composite Crystals

composite crystal by the diode laser with super-Gaussian mode was researched. The result shows that when the output power of diode laser is 10 W, the pump-face centre of 0.5 at.-% neodymium-doped YVO
₄

₄
composite crystal can get 147 mm maximal thermal focal length (when k = 5) and has 2.34 mum thermal distortion (when k = 1). It can be concluded that end-pumped thermal lens and distortion field of YVO
₄
-Nd:YVO
₄
composite crystal have obvious varies with ranks of super-Gaussian. The method can also be applied to the research on other thermal problems of composite crystal, which can offer theoretical basis for efficiently resolving the thermal problems in laser system.
