Influencing Earth system science education: NASA's approach

The concept of Earth system science is still fairly new to the scientific community, and is just beginning to reach educators and the general public. NASA's Mission to Planet Earth (MTPE) uses the unique perspective of space to study the Earth's systems of air, land, water and life and how they interact. Within NASA's education framework-and consistent with emerging U.S. science standards-MTPE seeks effective and innovative means to relay discoveries about the Earth for use in advancing the state of science education.
