A model study of propagation of impulses in cardiac tissue

The bidomain model was used to study the effects of differences in intracellular and extracellular anisotropy on the conduction of impulses in cardiac tissue. Concordant with previous experimental studies the model predicted a higher upstroke velocity and shorter time constant of the foot for action potentials propagating transversely than those propagating longitudinally.
